I Love My Design Wall!

A few years ago I covered two large sheets of compressed board with cotton batting and
hung them in my studio to make a design wall. Fabric and pieced blocks cling to it, and it accepts thumbtacks easily. The colorful, free-form blocks are for an art quilt I'm working on. To keep my creative muse fed, the wall also features two of my acrylic cow paintings (inspired by artist Peter Diem), collages, drawings, a Matisse print, etc.
I like to change it up frequently.

This basket of freehand cut strips (no rulers used) has been the starting point for the blocks. I'm randomly piecing strip sets and deliberately trying to sew curved and crooked seams. This is not easy for a perfectionist like me. Next, I'm cutting the sets and piecing them to make a variety of different blocks. I'm envisioning a horizontal wallhanging with irregular edges using a variety of my machine quilting designs when it is finished.

All those strips in colors I love got me going on this purse project! The pattern is called
Bali Bits & Bites by Cool Cat creations. I'll post photos when I finish it.
